A fresh approach to needlepoint finishing—rooted in skilled handwork, thoughtful materials and practical craftsmanship. With quicker turnarounds and lower pricing, our aim is to get those beautiful canvases out of your drawers and closets—and into the limelight!
A Special (Private) Invitation from Dottie Mae.
To launch Dottie Mae, I’m curating an expanded portfolio. I am looking for a small group of foundational pieces to feature and would love to see yours! Because space is limited and I want to focus deeply on work from my direct invitees, please keep this link private. For more info - read on!
ABOUT ‘DOTTIE MAE’
As the former owner of a custom drapery and upholstery workroom in Austin, Texas, I spent years fabricating bespoke home decor—from intricate window treatments to elaborate headboards, adhering to the high standards of the Custom Home Furnishings Industry.
When my daughter’s needlepoint projects began piling up due to the high cost and long wait times for professional finishers, I stepped in to help. The process was remarkably familiar, drawing on the essential skill of manipulating fabrics, trims, and layers to secure each element precisely, and beautifully, in place.
That experience is the foundation of ‘Dottie Mae’—an opportunity to approach finishing a bit differently…
Using professional workroom techniques, my goal is to reduce the time and cost of finishing, without compromise. This will include hand and machine stitching, but also, the same flexible, pH-balanced, non-yellowing adhesives trusted by restoration specialists & high-end workrooms. Your hard work will be treated with absolute care! I believe I can ensure a quicker turnaround (& lower costs) so you can display and enjoy your magnificent art sooner!
In many instances, carefully applied invisible adhesive is not only efficient— it is the superior construction method.
THE FOUNDING COLLECTION … AND YOU
… be part of the beginning.
To showcase my work, I’m offering greatly reduced pricing for a limited number of pieces from among select ‘invitees’. These will comprise my ‘Founding Collection’ and be a showcase for ‘our’ work. This will also help establish a realistic, sustainable pace and pricing. Final selections will be based on photographic quality, variety, color, shape, scale and complexity (I like a challenge!).
If you have a stitched canvas just waiting make its debut - I’d love to see it!
FOUNDING CONTRIBUTOR PRICING (limited time) Materials cost + 30% ($25 minimum) - shipping excluded
IMPORTANT! To participate as a Founding Contributor, you agree that photos of your work, before and after finishing, may be used on the Dottie Mae website, in marketing and social media. Credit will always be given to the stitcher and canvas designer/brand (when known).
